Heather chops 250 carrots in 2 hours, and 750 carrots in 6 hours. Write an equation that represents the direct relationship between carrots and time.

The general equation for a direct variation is:

y = kx
We need to find the value of k.


We know that for x = 2 (2 hours), y = 250 (250 carrots).
 250 = k * 2
k = 250/2
k = 125
