Why was the League of Natiobs rejected by the United States?

After the first world war the league of nations was created to keep peace in Europe Americans did not want to join it because they didn't want to mess with Europe.

The League of Nations was created by Wilson (our president) as the last one of his 14 points. Although he came up with the idea of the LONs, the country (mainly the south) votes against it in fear from more foreign conflicts that could result in war.
