The attached diagram contains the graph of this inequality.

The line 6x-2y=8 divides coordinate plane into 2 parts. The shaded region is the region that contains all points with such coordinates (x,y) that 6x-2y>8. Note that inequality doesn't have the sign equal (is strongly >), this means that boundary line should be dashed.

Pick two points:

  • when x=0, then -2y>8, y can be -10. You get point (0,-10);
  • when y=0, then 6x>8, x can be 10. You get point (10,0).
