When glow sticks were bent,Chemaicals inside reacted to produce a glow?

Glow sticks have a glass tube in them that separates chemicals. When broken the chemicals mix, the reaction is the glow. I looked it up and Wikipedia says a base catalyst and a suitable dye that create a exothermic reaction.
