Add the two rows together

3x = 12

Solve for x in the above equation

x = 4

Substitute x = 4 into any of the two equations above. Let's choose the first one; 2x - y = 6

2 × 4 - y = 6

Solve for y in the above equation

y = 2

Thus,

x = 4

y = 2
