Step-by-step explanation:

For a negative exponent you always flip the number so instead of [tex]5^{-1}[/tex] it would be [tex]\frac{1}{5^{1} }[/tex] and 5 to the first power is 5

Now for [tex]5^{0}[/tex] any exponent with a zero it always equals 1

So [tex]\frac{1}{5} * 1 = \frac{1}{5}[/tex]
