For any line with two points let's say (x1,y1) &(x2,y2),

slope(m)=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

In this case

(x1,y1)=(-8,4)

&

(x2,y2)=(4,-8)

So,

slope(m)=(-8-4)/[4-(-8)]

=-12/12

=-1
