x + 2y = 1

x = 1 - 2y

2x - y = 7

2(1 - 2y) - y = 7

2 - 4y - y = 7

-5y = 9

y = -9/5

x = 1 - 2y

x = 1 - 2(-9/5)

x = 1 + (18/5)

x = 23/5
