e is an irrational number equal to 2.71828182… and is used as a base for natural exponential functions. ln is the log of an exponent with base e

㏒e(x) = ln(x)

if x is e, ln(e) is 1, like how log10(10) is 1. if the stuff inside the parentheses is equivalent to the log base, then the result is always 1.

the log rules still apply to ln and e.
