2x + 2y = 6 . . . . . (1)
x + 3y = -1 . . . . . (2)

(1) x 3 => 6x + 6y = 18 . . . . . (3)
(2) x 2 => 2x + 6y = -2 . . . . . (4)

(3) - (4) => 4x = 20
x = 20/4 = 5
