Mathematically; the square of the hypotenuse equals the square of the adjacent plus the square of the opposite according to Pythagoras.

Thus;

100^2 = x^2 + x^2

10000 = 2x^2

divide the through by 2, we have;

x^2 = 10,000/2

x^2 = 5,000

x = √5,000

x = √2,500 * 2

x = 50√2
