It's just about how we believe what we are told, they thought the shadows were their entire world and they never even bothered to explore it more. Right now with technology we are kinda doing the same thing, most of us just stay with what teachers at school tell us and we don't even bother to explore more, which is a shame because we have everything right in our hands, literally. At least that's what I understand, it could be wrong
