Answer:

turn into top heavy fractions to start off.

whole number X denominator plus numerator

1 X 10 + 3= 13/10

2 X 5 + 2 = 12/5

now need to find a common denominator we can use 10.

5 X 2 = 10 what you do to the bottom you must do to the top.

12 X 2 = 24

the sum should now read

13/10 + 24/10 = 37/10.

to turn back into mixed number work out how many denominators go into numerator.

in this case 3. whatever is left over becomes the numerator. end answer 3 7/10
