Step-by-step explanation:

The given system of equations are ,

  1. -3x + 3y = 3
  2. -5x + y = 13

Solving (1) :-

=> -3x + 3y = 3

=> -3( x - y ) = 3

=> x - y = 3/-3

=> x - y = -1

=> x = y + 1

Put this value in (2)

=> -5(y+1) + y = 13

=> -5y -5 + y = 13

=> -4y = 18

=> y = 18/-4

=> y = -9/2 = -4.5

Finding x :-

=> x = -4.5 + 1

=> x = -3.5

Hence the value of x is -3.5 and y is -4.5
