From eqn2 , x= 5-y. Thus substituting in eqn1 will give

6(5-y)-4y=38

30-6y-4y=38

30-10y=38

-10y=38-30

-10y= 8

y=8/-10---> y= -4/5

Substituting y in eqn2 we have

x+(-4/5)=5

x=5+4/5

x=29/5
