Let’s rewrite the given equation by adding 81 to both sides:
[tex]x^2 - 18x + 81= 65 + 81[/tex]
[tex](x - 9)^2 = 146[/tex]
Taking the square root of both sides, we get
[tex]x - 9 = \pm\sqrt{146}[/tex]
or
[tex]x = 9 \pm \sqrt{146} = 9 \pm 12.1 = 21.1\:\text{and}\:-3.1[/tex]
