The mean of a set of numbers is the same thing as the average.  In order to find the average (or mean) of a set of numbers, we add up all of the numbers and divide the amount by the total amount of numbers.  For these three numbers, we do this:

[tex] \frac{5.39+8.35+3.81}{3}= \frac{17.55}{3} =5.85[/tex]

So, the mean is 5.85.
