First of all you need to get rid of parenthesis:
[tex](a-1)-(a-2)+(a-3)=a-1-a+2+a-3[/tex]

Then sum members of expression:
[tex]a-1-a+2+a-3=(a - a + a) + (2 - 1 - 3)=a-2[/tex]

So, [tex](a-1)-(a-2)+(a-3)=a-2[/tex]

(a-1)-1(a-2)+(a-3)=a-1-a+2+a-3=a-2
