In order to calculate the heat absorbed by the water, we require the specific heat capacity of water. This is 4.18 J/g. Now, we use the formula:
Energy = mass * specific heat capacity * change in temperature
Q = mcΔT
Q = 250 * 4.18 * (100 - 15)
Q = 88,825
