On the right side of the equation -3(2y+4), you need to use the distributive property, so it becomes -6y-12.
together it is -4y+2=-6y-12

get the "y" value on the left, so add 6y to the left side

2y+2=-12
substract -2
2y=-14
divide by 2

y=-7

To double check your answer, plug -7 back into the equation and make side both sides are equal to each other
