The simplest way to explain the production and release of proteins by a cell is this: the DNA is transcribed into what we call the mRNA, which is then translated to proteins. The latter transfers into endoplasmic reticulum and is then transported to the Golgi body. This is for even further modification and then packaged into exocytotic vacuoles. The proteins are then released by a process called exocytosis.
