Maddy is making wooden blocks to use as game cubes.Each block is a cube one inch long on each edge.The cubes will fit in the bottom layer of this game box.

We can't tell, because you didn't tell us the measurements of the box.
Is it a little match box, or a giant shipping carton ?

If 'L' is the length of the box in inches, and 'W' is the width of the box
in inches, then  (L times W) cubes will fit in the bottom of the box.
