What was a convivium and how did it reflect social status

A convivium was a drinking party in Ancient Greece which was attended by young men in Greek aristocratic society. It reflected social status, because it was exclusively attended by men of respected families and was used for people to boast or show off their talents. These events were also used to celebrate accomplishments.
