How does Ralph overcome Jack‟s challenge during the discussion about what to do about the beast?

In the context of the novel, "Lord of the Flies," Ralph overcomes Jack's challenge by getting every one on his side. He reminds them about the fire and why its important to keep the fire going, and since Jack has no one on his side he listens to Ralph.
