if you mean 3y = 27 where 3y means implied multiplication between 3 and y, then just divide both sides of the equation by 3 and find that y=9

if y3 means y raised to the exponent of 3 as in [tex] y^{3} = 27[/tex], then you would need to take the cube root of both sides of the equation to find y = 3
