DNA is one of the 2 main nucleus acids that is categorized as the blueprint of life as it contains genes or discrete hereditary units that contain the instructions for everything the organism does and requires.

Since each set of DNA or chromosomal information is unique to one and only one individual, forensic scientists can use this basic fact to determine the individual or animal.
