The (Islamic) Taliban government remained in power in Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001. A United States invasion made their government collapse.The Taliban government contained over 90% of the community before 2001. Although the Taliban leader, Hakimullah Mehsud was killed in US air strikes in 2013, the movement still plans out numerous attacks.
