First write a similarity statement.
ABCD ~ NMPO. Note it's important to match up the corresponding angles.

For similar triangles, the ratio of corresponding sides is the same.

So the ratio of AB to NM equals the ratio of BC to MP.
AB/NM = BC/MP
(y - 1) / 6 = 5/3
Solve for y.

Use the same process to find x.
CD/PO = BC/MP
