The equation is n + 3 + 2n = 27
n + 2n = 27 - 3
3n = 24
n= 24 /3
n = 8
 
then, 8 + 3 + 2(8)
          8 + 3 + 16 = 27

And the numbers are: 8 and 16  (+3)
