y = -3x+7
x = -2y-16

substitute in one for the other:

y = -3(-2y-16) + 7
y = 6y + 48 + 7
y = 6y + 55
-5y = 55
y = -11

x = -2y - 16
x = -2(-11) - 16
x = 6
