Hello,

[tex]x+2y=16\\so\\2y=16-x\\\\y=\dfrac{16-x}{2}\\\\y=8-\dfrac{x}{2}\\\\{y=-\dfrac{1}{2}x+8}\\\\\boxed{\boxed{\text{The slope is : }a=-\dfrac{1}{2}}}[/tex]

The slope would be -1/2.

In order to find the slope, you need the equation to say "y =". You would first subtract "x" from both sides. This leaves 2y = -x + 16. To get "y" by itself, you need to divide 2. This gives you "y = -1/2x + 16. Thus making -1/2 the slope.

I hope this helps!
