The value of  XY is 20.

Given:

XZ = 16

YZ = 12

Since the triangle is not shown:

Assuming it is a right angled triangle with right angle at ∠Z.

We have drawn the triangle for your reference.

Now by Using Pythagoras theorem we get;

[tex]XZ^2+YZ^2=XY^2[/tex]

Substituting the values we get;

[tex]XY^2 = 16^2+12^2 = 256+144 =400[/tex]

Now taking square root on both side we get;

[tex]\sqrt{XY}=\sqrt{400}\\\\XY =20[/tex]

Hence The value of  XY is 20.
